First Fridays Jazz With Pappas, Racine, Kretzer

Our First Fridays Jazz series continues with this stellar trio. The music is straight ahead and the admission is FREE!

Ingrid Racine
Born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI, trumpeter and composer Ingrid Racine embraces everything from early jazz to bop, fusion to folk and hip hop. Her strong bebop sensibility shines, even as she explores music across decades and geographical boundaries. She is also a member of the Ann Arbor Afrobeat collective NOMO.

Mark Pappas
Keyboardist Mark Pappas is the former coordinator of the Eastern Michigan University Jazz Combo Program, both teaching the ensembles and setting up performance opportunities. He was also the assistant jazz ensemble director, running one rehearsal per week. His EMU appointment as Part-time Lecturer Faculty began in the fall of 2003 until he left in December of 2018 to pursue other opportunities. A regular performer at the Tower Inn until last year, he has been gigging locally since 2000.

Mark Kretzer

A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in music education, Scott Kretzer is a freelance percussionist and teacher in the Northwest Ohio/Southeastern Michigan area. He teaches applied percussion, world music, and directs the Jazz Ensemble at Heidelberg University. Scott performs regularly with the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra, Carl Cafagna and North Star Jazz, The Sixth Edition, and the Murphy’s Place Jazz Orchestra. He has performed with many top jazz artists including Clark Terry, Delfayo Marsalis, David “Fathead Newman”, Shirley Jordan, John Clayton, Sonny Fortune, and Jon Hendricks.
