Ann Arbor-based funk collective Sabbatical Bob brings their unique blend of invigorating, crowd-pleasing energy and highly stimulating grooves. Their infectious personalities and musicality has brought crowds to their feet everywhere from quiet churches, to sold-out concert halls. Committed to “constant music, constant dancing, and dramatic, hard-hitting FUNK”, From the band’s first notes, it is clear that their shared love, dedication, and commitment to the music is their common passion. Defying categories, Sabbatical Bob is well-schooled from the music of Miles Davis to James Brown to George Clinton. They are secure in their own eccentric musical identity. They are provocateurs ready to shake-up the post-millennial monotony.

In the wake of their first release, “Sabbatical Bob: Live and in Person” the band, simply put, is a collective on an ambitious, yet relentless, musical mission: Bring Back the Funk.

Ki5:
Ki5 takes you on a journey that begins with a single human voice as he creates his own musical artifacts live with his loop station. Drawing from a background in a cappella, this Michigan-born artist is rare in that he relies on his body as his only instrument. Like Reggie Watts and Ed Sheeran, he uses his beats to setup a playground before musically dancing around every inch of it like Bon Iver. As he plays within these layered vocal soundscapes, he displays the beauty of harmony and the energy of the human spirit.

Ok Bet:
From all corners of the country, Ok Bet is a newly formed collective whose sound is in the vein of rhythm & blues. Comprised of students at the University of Michigan in jazz studies, classical studies, and even dance, they combine to create music influenced by sounds of artists ranging from D’Angelo to Clifford Brown. Rooted in inclusivity, their music is for all shapes, colors, and orientations.
