Glass Jaw:

Jakob Heinemann – bass
Emerson Hunton – drums

Outer Nebula Trio:
Rafael Statin – Winds / Electronics
David Shettler – Electronics
Dave Hurley – Drums

Sarah Clausen:
Sarah Clausen is an alto saxophonist and composer based in Chicago, IL. Utilizing space, unique melodic content, and diverse textures, Sarah has developed an approach to improvisation and composition that is inspired by many musical traditions. While completing her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at Northern Illinois University, Sarah studied under renowned Chicago Saxophonist Geof Bradfield, and had the opportunity to work with artists such as Steve Coleman, Anna Webber, Jon Finlayson, Maria Grand, Jon Irabagon, John O’Gallager, and James Falzone.

Jakob Heinemann:
Based out of Chicago, Latticework is the debut solo album from upright bassist Jakob Heinemann. This debut album established Heinemann as member of Chicago’s experimental improvisation scene. Jakob communicates his relationship with the instrument throughout four pieces of unedited and transparent improvisation. Working extensively with the idea of timbral counterpoint, Latticework explores multi-faceted textures of contrasting sonic material occurring simultaneously or in rapid succession. Latticework is a nod to this concept, analogizing the complex sounds pulled from the double bass as they are woven into tangible contrapuntal structures.

Emerson Hunton
Emerson Hunton is a drummer and composer based in Chicago, IL. His musical approach prizes space and texture, while pulling from a wide array of musical traditions. His creative output has been supported by grants and residencies through STEIM, Conservatory van Amsterdam, the CIGSIE board, and Avaloch Farm Music Institute.
Emerson has performed nationally and internationally with collaborative jazz quartet Junior Ranger, an ensemble that challenges its members to rethink the boundaries of orchestration and instrumentation, compositional structures, and free improvisation. Junior Ranger recorded and released their debut recording Monster Masks in 2015

Rafael Statin
“Statin swooned and perspired as his post-Coltrane calypso saxophone impressed Detroit jazz cats on Friday night.” – Eric Kiska

Rafael Statin is one of those rarest of young jazz instrumentalist who can combine great passion, intellectual discipline, and a spiritual fire that is evocative of great artistic creativity. He has so far established himself as a remarkable composer and musician. Rafael has had the greatest privilege of sharing the bandstand amongst two of the very best Jazz musicians of today, Robert Hurst III and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Rafael received incredible reviews from New York’s local jazz critics playing with them.

David Shettler
A wizard behind a bank of synths, David Shettler is a Metro Detroit Musician about town. He’s worked with the likes of Fred Thomas, Joel Peterson, SSM, Moon Pool & Dead Band, and a slew of others. He’s a secret weapon.

David Hurley
Drummer, percussionist, and occasional trumpet and flute player, David Hurley was a member of the psychedelic / progressive rock band Astra, formed in San Diego, CA in 2001 as Silver Sunshine. He left the band in 2013, freeing up more time for interests like jazz and improv. Since moving to Detroit he’s been the host of Triixie’s highly regarded Monday night series Fire Music, a biweekly gathering of improvisers from Detroit and the greater metro area.
